BIOGRAPHY

Gerald Nowotny ("Gerry"), is a tax and estate planning attorney in Avon, CT with over 30 years in the insurance and financial planning industries. He has developed an expertise in tax reduction and deferral strategies.He has developed a national reputation in private placement insurance products which are institutionally priced insurance products for ultra high net worth and institutional buyers. His expertise covers domestic and international applications with these products.

Gerald is the Managing Partner of the Law Office of Gerald R. Nowotny, PLLC. Gerald has a JD and LL.M. in estate planning from the University of Miami. He is a member of the Florida Bar. He earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point. Gerald served on active duty for five-years and left the service as a Captain.

 

He has earned the following professional designations - Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™; and has been well published in numerous professional tax and estate planning periodicals including but not limited to JD Supra, Journal of Taxation of Investments and Leimberg Information Services.  His series of articles on the use of offshore trusts in Rabbi Trust planning for non-qualified deferred compensation was cited in the Joint Committee of Taxation Report on IRC Sec 409A which, eliminated the use of offshore Rabbi Trusts.

 

Gerald is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
